Some neighborhoods in Baghdad receive more than double the average daily supply of electricity of other areas in the city, according to data reported by IraqSlogger sources across the Iraqi capital.

Slogger's exclusive reports of electricity supply in Baghdad over the last week speak of a general undersupply of electricity to households in the Iraqi capital, but also reveal striking disparities between different areas of Baghdad.

Sources in nine different areas, from which IraqSlogger also gathers its popular price check data, estimated the average daily supply of electricity to their homes for the week ending October 27. The data are represented in the image below.

As can be seen, residents of neighborhoods estimating the highest daily average report over twice as many hours per day of power availability over those in the areas with the lowest reported daily current.

The Eastern Sadr City and Baghdad al-Jadida areas come in at the bottom of the pack with residents in both places estimating only five hours per day last week.

Meanwhile, residents of Mansour report 11 hours of power supply each day for the same time period.

Most striking is the reported disparity between Baghdad's eastern and western halves. Areas East of the Tigris River cluster at the bottom of the reported estimates, with even residents of the commercial Karrada district reporting no more than seven hours of current each day last week. Meanwhile, in Baghdad's Western districts, the lowest reported supply, in Kadhimiya, is still higher than any estimate from Eastern Baghdad. Even the notorious areas of al-'Amil and Ghazaliya report nine and ten hours of power per day, respectively.

Stay tuned for regular updates on Baghdad's household power supply.
